Easy Healthy Burgers

Easy Healthy Burgers

I’ve never made homemade burgers before, pretty much out of laziness.  But this one is too easy not to try!  And I generally have eaten my carbs during the day, so eating one of these bunless is just as good as with a bun…or so I tell myself.  This is pictured with an Udi’s gluten free bun (hubs has Celiac’s).

Homemade beef burgers with red onion and pineapple:
2 lbs lean ground beef (95% or higher)
1.5 tsp smoked or reg paprika (I’ve made it both ways, both good)
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp sea salt (optional)
Pineapple slices – cored, fresh preferred
red onion slices
cheese slices to top (optional)
green lettuce leaf to wrap it in (optional)

Mix beef and spices together, form into 6 patties.  Grill to desired doneness – I have cooked these on the griddle too and they came out well.  Top with pineapple & onion (and cheese if desired).

21 day fixers – one burger equals 1 red, approximately 1/2 purple if you do the pineapple slice and 1/2 blue if you do the cheese.  I don’t bother counting the red onion/lettuce leaf.

This recipe has been slightly modified from the Fitviews Paleo Blog, original recipe can be seen here!
